Traditional High School Full Time, Seat-Based Program
(Preliminary Renewal Petition language for submission for charter renewal 2021 - 2026)
TRADITIONAL PROGRAM - Students attend school 5 days a week, full time on campus.
High school traditional seat-based students will have the opportunity to enroll in up to eight classes on a block schedule. Classes will meet twice a week and every other Friday. The schedule will remain the same with rotating Friday schedules. This is being implemented to accommodate students on a Hybrid program within the traditional program and allow students to dually enroll in college classes at Victor Valley College.
There will be two blocks of schedules, like college. The first block will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Friday. The second block will meet on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Friday. These are designated with "A" days and "B" days. The attached PDF here is the 20/21 calendar (pending Covid). Encore Education Corporation has delayed the start of the school year by one month due to Covid-19.
ENCORE HIGH SCHOOL STANDARD GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS - Encore High School has adopted the UC, A-G admissions requirements for high school graduation from Encore.
A. History - Two Years required, including one year of world history, and one year of US history
B. English - Four Years required
C. Mathematics - Three Years required
D. Science - Two Years required, Three Years recommended
E. Foreign Language - Two Years required, Three Years recommended
F. Fine Arts - One Year required.
G. Elective - One Year required.
While Encore students taking the full time, seat based track through high school generally graduate with 300 semester credits, the graduation minimum for standard graduation is 150 semester credits. Due to Encore's rigorous schedule and diverse schedule, graduating with the multitude of extra credits makes Encore's graduating seniors more attractive for scholarships and admissions into four year university programs.
ENCORE HIGH SCHOOL MINIMUM ALTERNATIVE GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS - For students that struggle with school, Encore has an appropriate path to graduation that will also certify them as a college and career ready student upon graduation. Students can choose this path for graduation from Encore.

PASSING REQUIREMENTS – Students will be required to pass classes with a “C” or better within the A-G College Readiness admissions. For students that do not pass a class with a “C” or better in high school, and the class is an A-G requirement, students will be pulled out of elective classes until the grade can be raised to a “C” or better.
Encore started this program as an elective option for students in the 2018/2019 school year.
This did not meet the improvements needed to meet state standards.
In the 2019/2020 school year, Encore started to implement this program as mandatory for all seniors prior to graduation.
In the 2020-2021 school year, Encore will pull students grades 10 - 12 on Fridays to work in the college and career center on grade improvement for whatever core class they earn less than a "C" in. The purpose of this remediation is to improve Encore's Dashboard for College and Career Readiness. This will also improve student achievement for struggling students. The goal for the 20/21 school year is a 10% overall increase from 2018/2019 school year in college and career readiness for graduating seniors
