Student Involvement - ASB and Student Council

Student Involvement

Associated Student Body (ASB) has been established at the school site to involve students in the planning of student fundraisers, special events / activities, and help build campus culture. There is an ASB President, ASB Vice President, ASB Secretary, and ASB Treasurer. There are also class presidents, vice presidents, secretaries, and treasurers. The ASB meets within a regular class period to plan events at Encore and works to keep the faculty updated on their plans. The ASB shall is guided by an Executive Assistant Manager for Activities. Student government positions are chosen via election, interview, and/or appointment.  Government positions are reassigned every year.

Encore also has a student council that is made up of elected students from their second period class.  This group is governed by Encore’s ASB and provide oversight for important events and activities that happen on campus.  They also review funds raised by students and how the funds are spent on campus.

Encore shall comply with all applicable provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as reauthorized and amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act, including only employing qualified teachers, which includes a requirement that a teacher hold a Bachelor's degree, subject matter competency, and a teaching credential. Encore shall only assign teachers to subjects to which they are properly credentialed, including English Learner authorization.

ASB - Start of Year team account balances

Each year, Encore High School reconciles all ASB team accounts.  This process is done through the ASB Bookkeeper and is approved through an ASB student meeting.  The results of this accounting is placed into a regular Encore Board meeting and approved as a consent item.  Before each school year starts, Encore requires that all ASB team accounts do not hold a negative balance. In the event that a team has a negative team balance, the advisor can face disciplinary action and be removed as the team advisor.   Negative team balances can be placed on team payment plans if feasible or the overall ASB account can absorb the negative team balances.  Any shifting of funds from one team account to another is approved through the ASB general meeting and is made public through regular Encore Board Meetings.  This list represents the team balances on August 3, 2020.
